October 11 to 16, 2009,
OWEN - the Mobile Academy for Gender Democracy and Peace - hosted a Grundtvig Workshop on the issue of
"Europe in Berlin". Main focus of the workshop was the development of Europe and the (different) identiti(es) of its citizens.
My presentation in this context: "
European Citizens - History and Future Challenges"
Together with the participants sites will be visited that incorporate or represent european countries and traditions. Small groups (from seven different countries in Europe - from Portugal and Northern Ireland to Romania and Lithuania) will bring representative things from their excursions that are symbolic for their home country. Together with an artist they will be worked into collages.
Where and how is the political separation of Europe in East and West visible or sensible up to today? And how is that expressed in the city of Berlin and in the way that the participants experience themselves and engage as citizens? How can the growing together of Europe be further promoted?
On Thuesday, October 13, Parto Teherani-Krönner will speak about "Identities in Changing Societies".
